Attention to all MiTomaniacs!
Watch the exclusive video footage of the new Blue & Me Tom Tom system that was shown at the Alfa Romeo stand during the Geneva Motor Show! Enjoy the video!
AlfaRomeo.it now has a new section, exclusively dedicated to Dynamic Suspension, the advanced shock absorber control system that actively and continuously adapts the suspension response according to road conditions and driver requirements.
Dynamic Suspension is the result of road tests carried out by Alfa Romeo combined with the advanced engineering expertise of Magneti Marelli. The MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde is the first car in its category to fit the system.
The new section, entitled “New Suspension”, provides a detailed description of the system's technical specifications, which offer maximum levels of stability and control, thanks to sensors located on the front suspension that detect unevenness in the road surface and the presence of obstacles.
The information gathered by the Dynamic Suspension system is integrated with that from the ABS, ASR and VDC systems, maximising the performance of the shock absorbers and guaranteeing the best possible comfort and safety.
The system is completed by Alfa DNA, the device that allows you to select and govern the road behaviour of the Alfa MiTo in Dynamic, Normal and All-weather modes.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo, in addition to being the first car to launch the revolutionary MultiAir system, will also be the first car to feature the new, dual dry clutch automatic transmission known as Alfa TCT combined with Start&Stop, the system that manages temporary engine shut-down at standstill.
The Alfa TCT will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and will be available to consumers in the coming months from all Alfa Romeo Dealerships.
Specifications
Alfa TCT ensures a high level of driving comfort by using two transmissions in parallel, each with its own clutch. The system allows the driver to shift to the next gear with the previous gear still engaged, thus guaranteeing continuity in torque delivery.
Advantages
- greater speed during gear shifts
- a choice of two modes: manual or automatic
- power loss during gear shifts practically eliminated
- less expensive and easier to install
- optimised fuel consumption thanks to the addition of the Start&Stop system
- guaranteed improvement in fuel efficiency over automatic transmissions (approximately 6% lower fuel consumption than a “Wet” clutch).
- flexibility of application, thanks to compact components
Alfa TCT is protected by 23 patents, already public, divided into 3 areas: transmission management, transmission mechanics and transmission actuation.
“Blue&Me –TomTom” is born of a partnership between Fiat Group Automobiles and TomTom, the European market leader in portable navigation.
The device is positioned in the centre of the dashboard on the MiTo and is therefore easy to reach and to read. The support, which is removable and shockproof, has a built-in power supply.
Not much longer to wait! The new Blue & Me – Tom Tom will be available in the coming months from all Alfa Romeo Dealerships. In the meantime you can enjoy this exclusive preview!
Main specifications
- 4.3” colour touch-screen;
- 4GB internal memory, with pre-loaded maps of all of Europe - 45 countries;
- function control via steering wheel controls and voice commands.
The exclusive “Car Menu” section displays information about the car and any devices connected to it:
- “Fuel Efficiency”: provides suggestions on how to reduce environmental impact and optimise fuel consumption
- information on the correct management of gear changes and accelerator use based on the type of route
- information on distance travelled, fuel consumption and range
- fuel reserve warning and directions to the nearest fuel station
- points of interest including Alfa Romeo Service Centres and LPG fuel stations
- mobile telephone management combined with Blue&Me: touch screen dialling, call management, information, phone book and recent calls.
In addition, Blue&Me TomTom includes the built-in “IQ routes” system, which calculates the best route at a given time of day using a database that gathers real traffic information.
Using the TomTom Home web application customised for Alfa Romeo, maps and information can also be updated and shared online by joining the “MapShare” community.

The Fashionist, aka Fosco Giulianelli, returns home to Stockholm to collect his thoughts after driving the Alfa Brera Italia Independent through seven of Europe’s fashion and style capitals: Milan, Zurich, Paris, London, Antwerp, Berlin and Stockholm.
The conclusion of his tour marks the start of the second stage of The Style Roads project - the StyleBook phase.
The StyleBook gathers roughly fifty of the tour’s most beautiful and representative pictures which collectively illustrate the hundreds of people, ideas and styles that Fosco chanced upon during his journey and that, in his opinion, establish the trends for the coming seasons.
Once you enter the website, the images appear in full-screen mode in the All City Selection section, updated on a regular basis.
A complete backstage picture and video retrospective will be published for each leg of his journey (look for a new one every 15 days or so), together with a City Guide containing Fosco’s personal selection of hotels, restaurants, nightspots and “cool” venues to visit in each capital.
Come discover the trends of the first leg in Milan, right away!
Pictures, video clips and the City Guide are already online: http://www.alfabrera-i-i.com/stylebook.html?lang=en .
The new "Compact" architecture featured by Giulietta ensures comfort and driveability on everyday roads coupled with exceptional sporty performance on the more demanding routes.
Let’s take a closer look at the main features.
Floor pan and chassis
Both components are made with a combination of tempered steel, high and ultra-high resistance materials and Xenoy (a thermoplastic material), which make the car more resistant, performing and lightweight. Moreover, the floor pan is modular and can thus be fitted on cars with different wheelbases.
Handling and comfort
Alfa Romeo Giulietta ensures excellent comfort levels, thanks to the following features:
- A new suspension layout. The McPherson front suspension is made of aluminium which makes it more rigid and light compared to cast-iron suspensions (4 kg less), while the rear suspension consists of an "evolved" multi-link version with aluminium arms (10 kg less compared to a normal multi-link suspension).
- A new electric power steering system.
- A climate control system that reduces fuel over-consumption by 30% compared to traditional systems.
- A significant reduction in noise and vibrations.
Passive safety
The new third load path increases passive resistance to shocks, thereby ensuring maximum protection for the vehicle occupants. Moreover, Alfa Romeo Giulietta is equipped with the following:
- 6 standard airbags
- three-point safety belts with double pretensioners and load limiter
- collapsible pedal unit and steering column
- second-generation anti-whiplash system
- Isofix attachments
Active safety
The "Compact" architecture enhances the three driving modes of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, namely Dynamic, Normal and All Weather; these are controlled by the DNA system that allows for modifying the operating parameters of the engine, gearbox, steering system, Q2 and VDC (stability control system).
Moreover, an additional two functions will debut on the Giulietta:
- The "Pre-Fill" function that provides maximum brake responsiveness, through the VDC system.
- The Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) system that intervenes on the steering wheel to ensure the correct execution of the most difficult manoeuvres.
Here are pictures of the "Compact" architecture, the front and rear suspensions.
